Join the thoughtful & giving Traverse Bay Camping Club for their annual Charity
Auction. Featuring lots of goodies and usually a handmade quilt or two, there's
lots of fun for a really great cause. Held on Labor Day Weekend near sites
95/96 in the early evening, the event is usually on Saturday, but moves to Sunday
in case of rain. Each year a different (usually local) charity is chosen either by
the group or by the Staff of RCC.
The 2011 Donation (of over $600) went to CAMP Live, Laugh, Love, a Children's
Bereavement Network Camp (age 8-13), which provides a FREE relaxed and safe
setting to explore feelings & offer hope to children who have experienced the
death of a parent or other loved one. The network is based out of Gaylord, MI and
is supported solely by donations. Their website is www.camplivelaughlove.org.
Past Recipients:
2006 - Camp Quality, a camp for kids who have cancer, located in Petoskey.
2007 - Pathway of Hope, a home for teen girls located right here in Evart
2008 - LOVE INC, a group out of Cadillac, who coordinate the meeting of needs of
people with local churches who've set up a particular ministry.
2009 over $500 was raised and given to a local organization called "Warmed by
God's Love" - who provide quilts and blankets to needy and/or neglected children.
2010 - $621.75 was given to Elijah's Place, a ministry in the tiny town of Tustin,
designed to feed hungry people.
