Employment River Country Campground employs between 15 and 20 part time staff (generally aged 16-25) during the summer each year. Our beginning wage is at the minimum set by the State of Michigan, which is currently $7.45 per hour.
Many of our employees return to work for us each year. We regularly employ (for the summer) drivers, office personnel, and maintenance crew. After March 1st we will accept applications for the summer of 2011. We are hiring in 2011 for three different areas:
1. We will be hiring several people to work hauling canoes, doing site maintenance, and performing other duties related to the upkeep of a campground and its facilities. The work is physical and you will get dirty & sweaty. You must be able to work weekends. Hours vary each week, but you would be scheduled for approx 5-20 hours per week. The benefits (other than the wage) are being able to be outside, being part of an exciting team of people, and the satisfaction of doing a job well... and maybe a free tube trip and some mini-golf.
2. We will also be interviewing personnel for the store this year. That position is mostly inside, but you still get the other benefits & it's still a great atmosphere! People in this position need to be able to do the following proficiently: multi-task, answer the phone, use the computer, spell, do math, use other office machines (cash register, fax, credit card processer, copier...etc), talk to people without fear, work alone (sometimes), work as a team (always!). Training is provided for the office machines. Other duties include cleaning, stocking, weeding, other general maintenance, and customer service. You must be able to work weekends. Hours vary each week, but you would mostly likely be scheduled for 10-20 hours per week.
3. We are looking for a summer maintenance position that involves cleaning the shower building several times each week. This would involve 3-4 hours on Tuesdays and about an hour or two each on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays.
